Actor Suriya is one of the brightest stars of South India. Looks like he is going to go pan-India in a couple of years.
On Tuesday, a report stated that the 'NGK' and 'Soorarai Pottru' actor is going to team up with director Shankar for an epic movie based on a Tamil novel titled 'Velpari'. The film will be based on the Sahitya Akademi Award-winning novel written by Su Venkatesan, who did profound research by studying the Sangam-era poetry and travelling extensively to write the book.
Shankar has never touched the genre in the past. It will be interesting to see him get into the Mani Ratnam territory. Mani is currently doing 'Ponniyin Selvan', which is also based on a classic Tamil novel by the same name, in two parts.
Shankar has to first complete Ram Charan's 15th movie and Kamal Haasan's 'Indian 2'. He has put the Hindi remake of 'Aparichitudu' on the back burner.
