'1996 Dharmapuri' is the title of an upcoming raw and realistic feature film starring Gagaan Viharri and Aparna Devi in the lead. Written and directed by Jagath, the film has been produced by Bhaskar Yadav Dasari. Ace dance choreographer Sekhar VJ, who is known for several hits in multiple languages, is presenting the drama.
The news is that the film is all set to hit the cinemas on April 22.
Shot in original locations, the drama tells the tale of love between a young man who is on the payroll of the village head and a Bidi-maker. The latter is played by Aparna Devi.
"We are happy that the response for the songs have been encouraging," the makers today said. Director Jagath said that the story of '1996 Dharmapuri' is based on some true incidents that happened in Nizamabad. "I have worked for big projects. I wanted to make a debut with a commercial film. But this storyline has strongly stayed in my mind. That's why I have made this realistic movie," he said.
With music by Osho Venkat, '1996 Dharmapuri' has cinematography by Krishna Prasad and editing by Marthand K Venkatesh.
'Akhanda' Naga Mahesh, 'Palasa' Janardhan, Keshava, Narayana Swamy, and others have got supporting roles.
